Golar LNG signs $2.5 billion deal to build fourth floating LNG vessel

Golar LNG has announced the signing of a $2.5 billion agreement to build its fourth floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) production facility. These floating units allow natural gas to be extracted, processed, and liquefied directly at sea, eliminating the need for costly onshore infrastructure. This makes them a particularly attractive solution for developing remote or hard-to-reach offshore gas fields. The deal reflects continued growth in global demand for liquefied natural gas, particularly from Asian and European countries seeking to diversify their energy supplies. For Golar LNG, the new project means expanded production capacity and a stronger competitive position in the race for LNG supply contracts. Energy sector investors should watch how the company's growing order backlog translates into future cash flows.
