Seven Regional Governments Raise 17.2 Billion Tenge via KASE Bonds
The Kazakhstan Stock Exchange held special trading sessions for the placement of bonds issued by local executive authorities across seven regions of the country. The combined amount raised reached 17.2 billion tenge, with bonds featuring varying maturities and coupon rates reflecting each region's individual terms. For example, East Kazakhstan region placed bonds worth 1.3 billion tenge with a two-year maturity and a semi-annual coupon of 0.35% per year. Such placements are a standard tool for financing regional budgets through capital markets, allowing local governments to raise funds for infrastructure and social projects without direct bank lending, while giving investors access to relatively safe debt instruments backed by budget guarantees.
