Samsung Unveils Record $80 Billion Shareholder Return Plan
Samsung Electronics unveiled plans to return 90 to 110 trillion South Korean won to shareholders over the coming years, including around 30 trillion won in third-quarter cash dividends. The decision mirrors a similar move by rival SK Hynix, which recently announced a major share buyback of its own. Both chipmakers are benefiting from surging demand for memory and AI-related semiconductors, boosting their cash generation. For investors, including those in Kazakhstan holding shares through international brokerage accounts, the announcement could increase the appeal of South Korean tech stocks. Analysts view the generous payout as a signal of management's confidence in the durability of the current semiconductor upcycle.
